Wii controller not working properly.?

wii controller not working properly.? I’m playing Skyward Sword at the moment and when I try to attack with my sword, Link starts walking to the right or left on his own and I can’t guide him in the direction I want. Why is this? I replaced the batteries, so I know it can’t be that.
